The Challenge
HubSpot's native quote templates were too limited for Leading Life Science Company's biotech equipment sales. They needed branded templates with accurate tax calculations, conditional payment terms, and multi-line discount logic.
The native template could not reverse-calculate tax from tax-inclusive prices, a requirement for certain customer types.
Distinct quote template types needed: standard equipment, service agreements, and leasing proposals, each with different tax and discount logic.
Why This Was Not a Standard Project
HubSpot's quote template system uses HubL which has limited mathematical capabilities. Tax reverse-calculation (extracting tax amount from a tax-inclusive total) requires division and rounding logic that HubL does not handle natively.
Each template needed different conditional sections: equipment specs for product quotes, SLA terms for service quotes, and payment schedules for leasing quotes.
Technix built custom HubL filters and mathematical expressions that performed tax reverse-calculation within the template, avoiding the need for custom coded actions or external calculations.
